Welcome to Year 5 Picasso!

Welcome to our newly created Year 5 class - Picasso class! Myself (Mr Hibbert) and our lovely class TA (Miss Simpson) cannot wait to get started with our lovely new class. This half term, we are going to be zooming through our first topic - Scream Machine. We will be finding out about lots of forces, and how the different mechanisms work on roller coasters and other rides. We will even get the opportunity to test these forces out for ourselves as we embark on a trip to Alton Towers!
 

Alongside our topic, we will be reading a linked text. This is called 'Foreverland' and is written by Nicole Kear.

Key Information

Start/Finish timings:

School starts at 8:45am and will finish at 3:15pm.

PE Days:

Our PE days this half term are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Children are to come into school wearing their PE kits. We will not be changing into a kit throughout the day. 
Correct PE kit is a white t-shirt, a dark jumper/hoodie, black shorts/leggings/jogger bottoms and trainers.

Spellings and Home-Learning:

We will be handing home learning out on a Thursday via dojo, and will be collecting it in on a Tuesday. We will be giving the spellings out on a Friday, and will be testing them on a Thursday.

Big Writes:

Big write's are a really important aspect of our learning in school and will take place on a Thursday after lots of scaffolding, input and support in the days prior. Miss Simpson and I cannot wait to see all of the creative ideas you have this year! :)

Your children's well-being is paramount to us, and clear communication is vital to ensure the children are having the best experience possible in Year 5. Miss Simpson and I will be out on the playground and on the door in mornings if you require a quick chat. The easiest way to get in contact with me is through class dojo. If you have anything important that may require a lengthy conversation, please send a message to us via dojo. That way, we can arrange a meeting or a telephone call which is convenient for us all.
