Our topic books this half term are The Dinosaur Who Pooped by Tom Fletcher.

Week 1: This week is our celebration week.

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The Best Diwali Ever, looking at the character on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday.

We will be learning about Bonfire night in Understand the World and Forest School and Diwali in RE and Music.

In Maths we will be looking into wholes and parts and how a number can be broken up into two parts.

Phonics this week includes /e/ /u/ /r/ and tricky words to and the.

We will also be attending Yorkshire Wildlife Park for our first school trip to introduce Dinosaurs to the children.

Week 2 & 3: During these weeks we will start to focus on The Dinosaur Who Pooped the Past.

We will be focusing on the animation of Bagpuss in Drawing Club; on Monday we have a character focus, Tuesday the setting and Wednesday and Thursday an adventure.

In phonics week 2 we will be learning /h/ /b/ /f/ /ff/ and tricky words no and go and in week 3 

/ss/, two syllable words and revision of all sounds.

In Maths we will be looking at different representation to 5 and then number bonds to 5.

In Understanding the World we will focus on past and present by looking at maps of the local area and the history of communication and in PSED we will focus on feelings and routines.

Week 4 & 5: During these weeks we will start to focus on The Dinosaur Who Pooped the Planets.

We will be focusing on the animation of space Bluey in Drawing Club; on Monday we have a character focus, Tuesday the setting and Wednesday and Thursday an adventure.

In phonics we will be revising all of the phase 2 sounds and focusing on tricky words I, no, go, to, the.

In Maths we will be continuing with number bonds to 5, then one more to 5 and money.

In Understanding the World we will focus on planets, moons and seasons and in PSED we will focus on looking after ourselves and healthy eating.

Week 6 & 7: During these weeks we will start to focus on The Dinosaur Who Pooped Christmas.

We will be focusing on  The Christmas Pine by Julia Donaldson in Drawing Club; on Monday we have a character focus, Tuesday the setting and Wednesday and Thursday an adventure.

In phonics we will continue revising phase 2 through multisensory approach.

In Maths we will start subtraction (one less with numbers to 5) and comparative language.

In Understanding the World we will look at what Christmas is and Christmas all around the world. In PSED we will focus on oral health and go on a Christmas sensory hunt.
