Firstly we would like to wish all of our families a warm welcome back to Nursery and  a Happy New Year !! 

It has been a great start, despite the weather! and we have been very impressed with the way our new children have embraced and explored our wonderful setting xxx

This week we have been re-setting, thinking about aims and goals for the year and reviewing previous learning x

Week 2 The Hairy Toe 

This week we will be reading a funny story about a Monster who looses his toe !! There will be all sorts of Monster activities in Nursery and in Maths we will be talking about length and weight. The children will have their first dough disco session in the hall aimed at strengthening the muscles in the hand therefore supporting fine motor control xxx

Week 3 and 4 "Where the wild things are " 

This week will bring a new story about a little boy called Max. Following the Monster theme the children will explore different activities with colours and textures x

Chinese New Year  

We are celebrating the year of the snake this week and the children will be singing, dancing and listening to beautiful music from China. 

They will also be making dragons, fishing for lucky coins, finding the shortest and longest noodles and using paper chains to create a snake.

Week 5 and 6 The Gingerbread Man 

Our Story for the next 2 weeks is "The Gingerbread Man" and the children will be learning it's well known verse .... 

"Run, run as fast as you can 

You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man" 

We will be reading and re-reading the story so that the children begin to recite it and then act it out" 

Activities in Week 5 include .... decorating a Gingerbread Man ready for special snack Yummy! We will also be talking about and making Maps, using our imagination to play with the farm and writing a letter to the fox from the story xxx
