Week Commencing Monday 27th January 2025

English: This week in English we are orally rehearsing being a tour guide in London and thinking about facts we have learnt about different landmarks!

 

Maths: We will be adding 2-digit numbers together. 

 

Spellings Year 1:oa - The digraph oa is very rare at the end of an English word.

Spellings Year 2: The /r/ sound spelt wr at the beginning of words.

 

In RE, we will be designing wedding outfits. In Music, we will be continuing to create our superhero note pattern!

Week Commencing Monday 20th January 2025

English: This week in English we are labelling different landmarks and writing a postcard.

 

Maths: We will be continuing with add and subtract 10s.

 

Spellings Year 1: oo words -/oo/ /u/

Spellings Year 2: the /n/ sound spelt kn and gn at the beginning of words.

 

In Geography, we will be learning about different settlements and focusing on cities. In Science, we will be looking at how trees change over the seasons.

Week Commencing Monday 13th January 2025

English: This week in English we will starting our unit 'Katie in London'. We will be focusing on writing sentences about London Bridge and writing postcards.

 

Maths: We will be continuing with add and subtract to and across 10.

 

Spellings Year 1: /ir and ur/ words

Spellings Year 2: the /s/ sound spelt c before e, i and y.

 

In Geography, we will be learning about the UK and the physical features of the UK. In Science, we will be looking at the differences between deciduous and evergreen trees.

Week Commencing Monday 6th January 2025

English: This week in English we will starting our unit 'Katie in London'. We will be focusing on labelling different landmarks in London using our phonics!

 

Maths: In Maths, we will be looking at addition and subtraction to 100. 

 

Spellings Year 1: /er/ words

Spellings Year 2: /j/ sound spelling g after e, i, y and j before/after other sound.

 

In PE we will be starting our gymnastics unit with Mr Ellis. In Geography, we will be thinking about what a landmark is and learning about a local landmark.
