English: This week in English we will be continuing to rewrite our story.
Maths: We will be continuing to work on multiplication and division.
Spellings Year 1: aw and au.
Spellings Year 2:
Adding –ed, –ing, –er and –est to a root word ending in –y with a consonant before it
The y is changed to i before –ed, –er and –est are added, but not before –ing as this would result in ii. The only ordinary words with ii are skiing and taxiing.
Not copying, crying, replying
In DT, we will be painting our taxis black. In Geography we will be comparing London and Kuala Lumpur.

English: This week in English we will be drafting and planning our own story.
Maths: We will be continuing to work on multiplication and division.
Spellings Year 1: or and ore
Spellings Year 2: Adding –es to nouns and verbs ending in –y
The y is changed to i before –es is added.
In DT, we will be designing our own taxis. In PSHE we will be thinking about healthy food.

English: This week in English we will be rewriting the story so far.
Maths: We will be continuing to work on multiplication and division.
Spellings Year 1: ie spelling -/igh/
Spellings Year 2: The /igh/ sound spelt –y at the end of words.
The /aɪ/ sound spelt –y at the end of words
This is by far the most common spelling for this sound at the end of words.
In DT, we will be investigating wheels, axels and chassis. In RE we will be learning about Jesus' miracle - Jesus heals the sick.
Week Commencing Monday 24th February 2025
English: This week in English we are focusing on using a range of different conjunctions. Y2 will be focusing on the present progressive.
Maths: We will be starting our unit on multiplication and division!
Spellings Year 1: ie spelling -/igh/ and /ee/ phoneme.
Spellings Year 2: The /l/ sound spelt –al at the end of words.
Words ending –il The /l/ or /əl/ sound spelt –al at the end of words.
Not many nouns end in –al, but many adjectives do. Words ending –il There are not many of these words.
In history, we begin to learn about The Great Fire of London landmark and why this is so important.
