Week Commencing Monday 5th May 2025

 

Remember Monday is a bank holiday - children come back to school on the Tuesday 6th May.

 

English: This week we will continue to look at our new book 'Major Glad, Major Dizzy' and learn about VE day.


Maths: We will be starting a new unit on time - focusing on o clock and half past.

 

Spellings Year 1: Adding -er and -est to root words.

 

Spellings Year 2: Adding the suffixes -ment, -ness, -full, -less and -ly

 

In RE, we will be focusing on the story 'The Lost Coin'. In DT we will be designing our supermarket sandwich. In Science we will be looking at different leaves.

Week Commencing Monday 28th April 2025

 

English: This week we will continue to look at our new book 'Major Glad, Major Dizzy' and focus on the conjunction when.


Maths: We will be adding using money and finding change.

 

Spellings Year 1: Adding the endings -ing, -ed and -er to the verbs.

 

Spellings Year 2: Adding the suffixes -ment, -ness, -full, -less and -ly

 

In RE, we will be focusing on the story 'The Lost Sheep'. In DT we will be practising our chopping skills. 

Week Commencing Monday 21st April 2025

 

Remember we are off school on the Monday due to bank holiday - children are back on Tuesday 22nd April!

 

English: This week in English we will be starting our new book 'Major Glad, Major Dizzy'. We will be writing thank you notes, using the progressive form and using the conjunction 'when'.


Maths: We will be starting our new unit on money! This week we will focus on recognising and counting notes and coins.

 

Spellings Year 1: Adding s and es to words (plural of nouns and the third person singular of verbs)  

Spellings Year 2: 

The /er/ sound spelt or after w

The /or/ sound spelt ar after w

There are not many of these words.

 

In RE, we will be learning about more of Jesus' stories. In Science, we will start our new unit called 'Plant Parts'. We will look at how plants change between the seasons and looking for wild plants in our school area.

Top
