Our topic books this half term are Stick Man, Gruffalo and The Scarecrows Wedding.

On Tuesdays in PE in Spring 1 we will have our PE coach Mr Thomas. Overall for Music we will be looking at music and movement. 

Week 1 & Week 2 Stick Man: 

In the first two weeks we will focus our learning on the Stick Man in Drawing Club. In phonics we will recap all of phase 2 and then move onto beginning phase 3 sounds /j/v/w/x. We will also begin Rainbow Grammar and start modelling this to the children. In maths we will have a recap on 1-5 and then start looking at number 6; in shape space measure we will look at patterns and sequencing. 

In Understanding the world we will look at past and present and Andrew Gouldworthy and in PSED New Year resolutions and following instructions/ 

Week 3 & 4 Gruffalo: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on Gruffalo, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. Our code's will be writing tricky words the and go.

In phonics we will continue with phase 3 sounds /y/zz/q/qu and /sh/ch/th/ng/.

In Maths we will be looking at number 7 and 8. In shape space and measure we will look at length and shapes. 

In Understanding the World we will be focusing on forces and drawing information from maps.

We will also have lessons on personal, social and emotional (PSED) and we will look at working with others and recapping school rules.

Week 5 & 6 The Scarecrows Wedding: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The Scarecrows Wedding, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. 

In phonics we will continue with phase 3 /ai/ee/igh/oa/ and /oo/ar/or/.

In Maths we will be looking at numbers 9 and 10. In shape space and measure we will be looking at money and weight. 

In Understanding the World we will be comparing family traditions and life cycle of a plant.

In PSED we will look at how seasons make us feel and how others may be feeling.
