Our topic books this half term are Funny bones, The jolly postman, The very hungry caterpilar why does it snow? and The jolly postman at Christmas.

Week 1 Funny bones: 

In the first week we will be focusing on Halloween.

Week 2 & 3 The jolly postman: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The jolly postman, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. Our code's will be writing tricky words the and go.

In phonics we will recap phase 2 sounds and begin to read 2 syllable words.

In Maths we will be looking at how a number can break into two parts. In shape space and measure we will look at morning and night and sequencing the day. 

In PE we will continue with fundamentals to PE; in music we will look at Diwali.

In Understanding the World we will be focusing on maps and materials.

We will also have lessons on personal, social and emotional (PSED) and we will look at why we have rules and how to look after ourselves.

In forest school we will attend the allotment and look at the weather.

Week 4 & 5 The Very Hungry Caterpilar Why does it snow?: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The Very Hungry Caterpilar Why does it snow, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. Our code's will be writing on the line and finger spaces.

In phonics we will continue recapping phase 2 sounds and tricky words.

In Maths we will be looking at number bonds to 5. In shape space and measure we will be sequencing and subitising. 

In Understanding the World we will be looking at a caterpilar life cycle and compare seasons.

In PSED we will look at healthy eating and oral health.

Week 6 & 7 The jolly postman at Christmas: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The jolly postman at Christmas, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. Our code's will be tricky word to and writing their full name.

In phonics we will continue to recap phase 2.

In Maths we will be looking at addition and subtraction. Then in shape space and measure we will decorate biscuits.

In Understanding the World we will be looking at what is Christmas and why we celebrate it and Christmas around the world.

In PSED and we will look at turn taking and dressing ourselves.
