Our topic books this half term are The Gruffalo, The Scarecrows Wedding and A Squash and a Squeeze.

Week 1 & 2 The Gruffalo: 

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The Gruffalo, looking at the character's on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday. Our code's will be formation and remembering our full stops.

We will also be writing about The Gruffalo  in Rainbow Grammar focusing on capital letters and using tricky word they. 

In phonics we are recapping phase 3.

We will be looking at comparing our environment to the Gruffalo's and past and present in Understand the World, team building at Forest School and No Outsiders in PSED.

In Maths we will be looking at finding the whole using bar models and part whole models and then in the second week we will have an addition and subtraction focus. In shape space and measure we will be identifying 3D shapes and then moving onto patterns. 

Week 3: The Scarecrows Wedding.

In Drawing Club we are focusing on The Scarecrows Wedding, looking at the character on Monday, setting on Tuesday and adventures on Wednesday and Thursday; our code will be writing our full name. In Rainbow Grammar we will continue writing sentences focusing on using tricky word her.

In phonics we will be moving onto phase 4.

In Maths we will start looking at doubling and shape space and measure will include money.

In Understanding the World we will look at weddings in different cultures and then in PSED we will focus on working together to create a wedding gift.

Week 4 & 5: A Squash and a Squeeze.

We will be focusing on A Squash and a Squeeze in Drawing Club; on Monday we have a character focus, Tuesday the setting and Wednesday and Thursday an adventure; our code will be using tricky word like. In Rainbow Grammar we will practice using adjectives.

In phonics we will continue with phase 4.

In Maths we will begin halving and finish the half term on number bonds to 5. In shape space and measure we will measure and then look at weight.

In Understanding the World we will look at changing state (science) and roles in society. In PSED we will look at why we have rules and also safe strangers. 

On the final week we will visit the theatre to watch A Squash and a Squeeze.
