This week we will be reading Stick Man, one of our favourite stories by Julia Donaldson ![]()
In the Magical Story Box Stick Man will introduce his story to the children , and we will share the first part of his journey. The children will have a go at drawing stick man and making his family from card. Lots of other activities will provide opportunities for high quality interactions about the story and characters.
In Phonics we are learning to write the letter S and refining our name writing.

This week we will be sharing another fabulous Julia Donaldson book ....one of our absolute favourites " The Gruffalo"
In provision, the children will make their own Gruffalo face using different materials from the Creative Area. They will also practice their cutting skills by cutting the Gruffalo's prickles and paint the woodland where he lives. In Maths the wooden 5 frame will provide an opportunity to explore counting to a "finished 5" with the fox, the snake and the owl xxx

For the next couple of weeks, we will be exploring the story of 2 scarecrows called Harry and Betty who plan to get married at the Farm where they live. This is another one of our favourite stories by the amazing Julia Donaldson. The children will be having a go at making their own scarecrows, practicing letter shapes in shells and trying to find the objects from the story in the sand.
In Phonics the children will be learning how to say the T sound and re-visiting S and A.
In the Maths Area there will be colour and shape sorting games and 5 frames to use for counting small amounts.

We are celebrating the year of the snake this week and the children will be singing, dancing and listening to beautiful music from China.
They will also be making dragons, fishing for lucky coins, finding the shortest and longest noodles and using paper chains to create a snake.

Week 5 and 6 The Gingerbread Man
Our Story for the next 2 weeks is "The Gingerbread Man" and the children will be learning it's well known verse ....
"Run, run as fast as you can
You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man"
We will be reading and re-reading the story so that the children begin to recite it and then act it out"
Activities in Week 5 include .... decorating a Gingerbread Man ready for special snack Yummy! We will also be talking about and making Maps, using our imagination to play with the farm and writing a letter to the fox from the story xxx
