Week beginning Tuesday 24th February 2026
English: We will be starting our new story 'Someone swallowed Stanley'. We are also going to write about our trip!
Maths:
Y1: we will be learning to add within 20 - including number bonds to 20.
Y2: we will start our multiplication and division unit by looking at equal groups.
This week is our trip on Thursday! We will also be completing our DT evaluation.
Week beginning Monday 9th February 2026
English: We will complete a purple polish piece for our retelling.
Maths:
We will complete our maths assessments on measurements.
In DT, in groups we will design and make our beach hut!
Week beginning Monday 2nd February 2026
English: We will start our retelling of 'Grandad's Camper'
Maths:
Both year groups will start a unit on measurement - measuring length and height.
In Science, we will complete a science investigation on paper.
Week beginning Monday 26th January 2026
English: We will focus this week on the suffix -ed. We will be recounting our journey using the past tense.
Maths:
Y1 : comparing numbers to 20.
Y2: addition/subtraction - mixed number sentences.
In RE, we will be thinking about a time when we have been brave or courageous. In DT, we will start to use the saws to create our bases to our beach huts.
Week beginning Monday 19th January 2026
English: We will focus this week on the suffix -ing. We will be writing sentences about a special person in our life.
Maths:
Y1 : looking at number lines.
Y2: addition/subtraction - subtracting 2-digit numbers with exchanging.
In Science, we will complete a science investigation exploring different materials. In DT we will explore different beach huts.
Week beginning Monday 12th January 2026
English: We will focus this week on writing questions and exclamatory sentences. We will also explore the conjunction 'when'
Maths:
Y1 : looking at numbers up to 20 - this week 14, 15, 16.
Y2: addition/subtraction - adding 2 2-digit numbers across 10 and subtracting 2-digit numbers.
In PSHE, we will think about our value 'Positivity' and think about positive thoughts we can have for the new year. We will also learn about our new DT significant person 'Frederick Percy Dolamore'. In science, we will start our new topic on materials and find different materials and objects around our classroom.
Week beginning Monday 5th January 2026
English: We will start our new story 'Grandad's Camper' and begin to make some predictions about the story. We will write different sentence types.
Maths:
Y1 : looking at numbers up to 20 - this week 10, 11, 12, 13.
Y2: addition/subtraction - adding 2 2-digit numbers and subtracting 1-digit numbers.
