English: We will continue to read our key text 'Look up!' and writing a diary entry as 'Rocket'.
Maths:
Y1 & Y2 - We will be continuing looking at 2D and 3D shapes! Please visit Youtube for lots of singing and dancing videos to support this! We also use these in class!
We will be sending spellings home this week.
Y1 - 5 Phase 4 tricky words - one, there, where, what, when.
Y2 - We will be continuing looking at the suffixes - er and est - calmer, cleaner, faster, kinder, lighter, fastest, freshest, kindest, lightest, slowest.
Both spelling tests will be on Thursday 16th October (due to INSET day on the Friday).
In Geography, we will learn about sustainabilty and the different characteristics of the UK. In RE we will be looking at families and faith.

In Geography, we will learn about sustainabilty. In art, we will be completing our colour challenge of using the primary and secondary colours.
Week beginning Monday 29th September 2025
English: We will continue to read our key text 'Look up!' and use lots of exanded noun phrases within our writing!
Maths:
Y1 - we will be completing our place value assessments.
Y2 - We will be completing our place value assessments and moving onto counting in 3s.
You will find lots of counting in 3s songs on Youtube which we watch in our lessons!
We will be sending spellings home this week.
Y1 - 5 Phase 3/4 tricky words - they, my, have, said, like.
Y2 - The spelling rule using 'ey'- donkey, valley, kidney, trolley, alley, money, honey, hockey, smiley, jersey.
Both spelling tests will be on Friday 3rd October.
In Geography, we will learn about hot and cold places and sustainabilty. In RE, we will consider characters feelings in the story of Peter.
Week beginning Monday 22nd September 2025
English: We will be writing instructions for building a rocket linking to our book 'Look up!'
Maths:
Y1 - we will be comparing numbers and groups of objects.
Y2 - we will be using greater than, less than and equal to to compare numbers and amounts.
We will be sending spellings home this week.
Y1 - 5 Phase 3 tricky words - you, was, her, are, all.
Y2 - pularals - cats, rocks, bags, dog, thanks, rulers, flowers, buses, boxes, dishes.
Both spelling tests will be on Friday 26th September.
In Geography, we will learn about the equator. In RE, we will learn about forgiveness.
Week beginning Monday 15th September 2025
English: we will be starting our new unit ‘Look Up!’. We will be writing about Mae Jaemison and writing instructions to make a rocket!
Maths:
Y1 - we will be counting backwards and finding 1 more and 1 less.
Y2 - continuing to partition numbers to 100.
We will be sending spellings home this week.

Y2 - contractions - I'm, I'll, it's, can't, aren't, hasn't, don't, we're, won't, isn't
Both spelling tests will be on Friday 19th September.
In Geography, we will learn about directions. In RE, we will learn about Jesus and his friends.
Week beginning 8th September
English: we will be starting our new unit ‘Look Up!’. We will be practising our capital letters and full stops.
Maths :we will be starting our unit on place value and practising numbers to 20.
We will be sending spellings home this week.
Y1 - 5 Phase 2 tricky words - the, to, I, no, go.
Y2 - words broken down into syllables: happy, pocket, thunder, jumper, sunset, rabbit, window, backpack, toilet, wallet.
Both spelling tests will be on Friday 12th September.
In science, we will be investigating habitats. We will also start our Art unit - Exploring Colours, where we will begin to mix the primary colours and explore how to create different hues.
Our Curriculum meeting will take place on Thursday 11th September at 3.30pm in classrooms.
