Frequently Asked Questions

We hope that this page might answer any questions that you have about our school. If there is anything that we haven't answered please speak to Mrs Woolley in Reception.

Q1. How does my child get a place at Farmilo?

If you would like your child to attend morning or afternoon Nursery please pop into Reception and complete an admissions form.

If you would like to apply for a full time place in F2 for a September start or a full-time place in any other year group please contact Notts County Council Admissions but you are welcome to make an appointment to look around the school with Mrs Tryner.

Q2. If my child comes to Nursery will they automatically get a full time place?

Unfortunately this may not be the case. It all depends on numbers in different year groups and how many children request a place. Please see Notts County Council's Admissions criteria for more information.

Q3. Do I need to book a place for my child at Breakfast Club?

If your child is in full time school there is no need to book a place. If your child attends Nursery you will need to contact Reception to book a place as we have different staffing ratios for younger children.

Q4. Do I need to book my child on to after school clubs?

Yes this can be done at Reception by speaking to Mrs Woolley. Our after school clubs change every half term and your child will bring a letter home informing you of what is on offer for them. Places are limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis. The cost of each after school club is £1.50.

The after school club which goes on until 5:30pm needs to be booked and paid for in advance. This can also be done from the school office.

Q5. Are there opportunities for the children to go on Residential visits whilst at Farmilo?

Yes, children from Y1 & Y2 get the opportunity to go to Walesby in July of each year. Y5&6 go to Lea Green in Derbyshire in April and Y3&4 go to Hathersage in June.

Q6 Does my child need to wear school uniform at Farmilo?

We recommend a school uniform which is outlined in the school prospectus. It can be purchased fom the Uniform Shop in Mansfield and red jumpers can be bought from many local places.

Q7 Will my child receive home work whilst at Farmilo?

Yes your child will receive home learning and it is important that parents you support your child with this as much as you can. The amount will depend on the age of your child but we encourage all children to regularly read and practise spellings and times tables at home. Teacher will organise sessions to support parents and these usually take place at the beginning of each academic year.

Q8 Will I receieve regular updates on how my child is foing at school?

Yes- teachers will contact you directly if there is something that they need to discuss with you and formal parent interviews regarding pupil progress are arranged during the Autumn & Spring terms with a school report at the end of the academic year.
