Year 5

Welcome to Year 5's class page, here you will find examples of our learning each week.

This half-term our topic is Peasants, princes and pestilence, the children will be learning all about the Black Death and what life was like during that time. We will also be doing lots of exciting writing this term as we transform ourselves into peasants, surgeons, orphans, priests and royalty who were alive during that time.

We searched our playgrounds for portals to other worlds and then edited them to look magical on the ipads.

Year 5 and Year 6 had so much fun on World Book Day making a lego comic strip version of Macbeth!

In English, we were looking at setting descriptions so we went outside to look at our playground and produced this awesome setting description as a class!

For E-Safety Day we wrote 3 interesting facts about ourselves and shared them with the rest of the school.

Stargazers

We made the solar system on our school field (Not to scale!)

We programmed bee-bots to complete a lunar mission with lots of obstacles!

Today we had special visitors from Severn Trent Water, who told us all about water treatment processes and water wasters and water savers

In Maths, we are looking at place value and the children were able to order numbers up to 1,000,000 including decimals! Well done Year 5!

As part of our French topic, Healthy Eating, we tried different French foods and researched where they originated from.

In P.E, the children are designing their own games as part of multi-skills.

As part of our computing lessons we created our own electronic time capsules. Here are some examples:

During our art lesson, we drew self-portraits of how we look now and then used AgeBooth to predict what we will look like in the future!
