National Children's Art Week

Tuesday 9th May 2017
Today we were visited by Dinosaur Graham - a real life paleontologist! He taught us about the different dinosaurs and then we got to hold a real life fossil. He also told us about his work looking for fossils. We absolutely loved having him here!

Art & Design - we created our dinosaurs out of playdough.

Science Day - we investigated poo and decided if it was a herbivore, ominvore or carnivore poo!

Home Learning

We have been learning about the different continents and which animals live there. We worked as a team to try and remember Miss Lowe's key map. Great work Year 1!

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

What a wet, cold but amazing day we had! We saw lots of animals at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and learnt about polar bears. After lunch the rain cleared (hooray!) and we went to see them for ourselves. The children never moaned once and they were a credit to you all!

To start off our new topic we had a visit from Lottie! We stroked her, walked her, fed her, brushed her and drew her!

We absolutely loved having Gareth here to teach us about writing stories!

Safety Week

Amazing Home Learning

2nd February 2017

We had Partake theatre company in to learn about the great fire of London. We went back to 1666 and imagined what it would be like. We pretended to be the fire and also pretended to put the fire out. What a brilliant afternoon!

6th January 2016 - Tea with The Queen.

What an exciting week back Year 1 have had! On Friday afternoon we had a very special visitor - The Queen (well, her very good friend who knows all about being The Queen!). To prepare, we made bunting and Union Jack flags. We also made scones and wrote some fantastic instructions. When she arrived, we bowed and curtseyed, asked questions, danced, ate our scones, drew a portrait and sang the national anthem. Well done Year 1 - you were all little stars!

We have been working hard on our 2d shapes. We have been drawing them and identifying their properties. We can't even be tricked by irregular shapes!

25th November 2016

We have been learning about coding for the past couple of weeks. Today we were joined by the coding queen, Miss Bamford, who helped us to write instructions for the beebots. We all did brilliantly!

23rd November 2016

We have been busy making space chalk pictures.

18th November 2016 - Anti-Bullying Day!

We have been learning about bullying. We discussed saying 'Stop! I don't like it!' and telling somebody. We made superhero masks to help us fight bullying!

Art & Design - make rockets out of junk materials.
