Welcome back everyone! We have a busy half term ahead of us :-)
The children return to school on the 4th June. We begin our topic with a Shakespeare day led by practitioners from Mansfield Palace Theatre.
Sports day is on Monday 10th June (currently postponed due to bad weather).
We also have our trip to Hardwick Hall on the 20th June. Please see the letters that the children should have already brought home.
Our Garden Party is scheduled for Tuesday 2nd July- I hope the weather stays bright!
Reports are also sent out this term.
Out topic for this half term is 'Off With Her Head'. It is all about the Tudor period and I know that the children are looking forward to finding out about life in those times.
The children return to school on Tuesday 23rd April. I am looking forward to seeing everyone after our Easter break. I hope that everyone has had a good holiday and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!
Our topic this half term is 'Allotment'. Within this topic, we look at food origin, nutritional foods and plant reproduction and life cycles.
We will begin our topic by trying to identify some raw fruit and vegetables- it should be fun!
The children come back to school on Tuesday 26th February, as Monday 25th is an INSET day.
Our topic for Spring 2 is 'Beast Creator'. We will be investigating arachnids, invertebrates, molluscs and myriapods and looking at their habitats. We will be writing reports, creating advertisements, writing a narrative and creating our own comic strips.
Our residential takes place this half term and it is also parent's evening, so please look out for the letters that will come home.
This half term, our topic is 'Stargazers.' We have a trip planned to the National Space Centre, so please look out for information about this within the first week.
Throughout this topic, we will be investigating the planets and looking at the moon's orbit around Earth. We will also be looking at the lives of Isaac Newton and Galileo Galilei and their discoveries.
Thank you to all who could join us for our Class Museum before Christmas. The children worked so hard and were very proud to show their learning. Also, I would like to say a huge well done to everyone for a fantastic Christmas performance.
Please join us for our class museum on Wednesday 12th December at 2.45pm. We will be performing some short pieces on our cornets at 3.05pm and there will be plenty to celebrate. Please join us anytime between 2.45pm and 3.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
Welcome to Year 5's Class Page
Welcome to fantastic Year 5's class page. The staff in Year 5 are Mrs Daysh, Mrs Ledger (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), Miss Thorpe (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoons) and Mrs Ferry on a Monday.
Our first topic is 'Pharaohs'. It will last for the entire Autumn term and focuses on Ancient Egyptian life and their culture. We have a visit from Partake Theatre company on Monday 10th September to launch our topic and I am really looking forward to the things they are going to share with us.
PE days are on a Monday and a Friday, so please make sure that children have an appropriate kit in school on these days.
Home-learning will go home on a Friday to be handed in the following Wednesday and spellings will be sent home on a Friday and tested the following Thursday.
I am really excited for our year together and I know that we will have a fantastic time and learn lots!
