Using your work from this week, can you write a setting description of the human hive from the viewpoint of Barry the bee? You might want to read my example from Monday's lesson and watch the clips from The Bee Movie film again (links on Monday's sheet). You could describe the items you have been thinking about this week (fork, couch/cushions, straw, lightbulb) and you might also want to describe other items that Barry saw in the human hive (for example - shower, coffee, salt, fridge magnet, snow globe). I can't wait to read your Big Writes - I wonder if I will be able to guess the items you describe...

Today's daily activities include:

English - You will be preparing for your Big Write today by thinking about the characters in Jack and the Beanstalk. You will be thinking of different adjectives (describing words i.e. evil, kind, scary) to describe the characters in the story. You can either use the original characters or even make up your own to replace: Jack, the Giant and the Beanstalk in the story. Use the examples on the worksheet to help you.

Tuesday 12th May 

English - today you are going to sequence the story of Jack and the Beanstalk - below are the pictures you need to order onto the story map - you can either draw the pictures or cut and stick these, it is up to you! Under each picture can you write key words for what is happening in each picture i.e. for the first one you could put 'Jack' 'Mum' and 'Cow'.

English - Today you are going to be sentence types detectives! You need to read Miss Neale's letter to the council and identify the commands and questions within the letter. Once you have done this, you need to write two commands and questions of your own which you would include within your own letter to the council! English: This week, our tasks will focus around the book 'The Flower'. Today, there is a video (see below)  where I read the story and explain the task. We are going to be 'imagineering' this week, we have no flowers in our town (like Biggs in the book) and we will be writing a letter to the council to persuade them to plant seeds! Today can you make a mind map of important reasons why they should plant seeds and grow flowers?

Maths: Can you use different 2D shapes to create a piece of art? You can use different 2D shapes, cut out paper shapes or draw shapes straight onto your paper. You might even want to use technology to create your shape art, it is completely up to you how you present it!

 

English: We are going to look at The Worrysaurus book that Gareth read in his story yesterday. You might want to watch his video again as a refresher. Today, you are going to create a character profile based on a character 'Bravesaurus'. Can you think of key words to describe his appearance (looks), personality, hobbies and super powers? On page 2 of the document, I have included an example character profile for you!

English: Today we will be focusing on commands. In instructions, we use commands to tell the reader what to do. Commands needs to have a bossy verb near the beginning of the sentence. Can you spot the bossy verbs?

 

Maths: Today we are focusing on weight. Can you compare the different weights using the term 'heavier' and 'lighter' ?

Tuesday 21st April - Daily Activities - English - You will be focusing on the instructions for how to plant a seed. Maths - You will be comparing lengths of a range of objects and areas within your home :) enjoy!

Monday 20th April - Maths and English Daily Activities - For Maths we will be focusing on measurements using a range of objects within our household to measure. For English we will be researching plants and thinking about what they need in order to survive.
