In the Autumn of 2016, Year 6 worked with a local publishing company to create their own book. Called the Victorian Vale, the book was a combination of fiction and non-fiction about the Victorian era and based locally at both Pleasley Vale and Newstead Abbey.
We went to Newstead Abbey and Pleasley Vale to find out more about both locations. Ralph Stone, a local historian, visited us to teach us more about the history of Pleasley Vale. Our publishers, Global Words, ran four writing workshops with us, to help us learn more about the process of becoming published authors.
Later in the term, we went to Waterstones in Nottingham to launch the book to our families. The book then went on sale in Waterstones and Mansfield Museum.
