Welcome to Year 3. The Year 3 team is Mr. Anthony Robinson (Class Teacher), Mrs Winterton (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Potts (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Wheatley (Teaching Assistant).
Our fourth topic this year is:
It’s time to take a walk on the wild side! We are going to learn about creepy crocs and amazing alligators, the deadly assassin bug and the voracious Venus flytrap. We will then be taking all we know about the best of the beasts to create the ultimate predator.
Our third topic this year is:
Explore the scientific world of forces and magnetism, metals and materials...Expand your mind as you test and trial, build and move.
Which force is at play as you slide down a slide or swing on a swing? Can you explain why magnets repel and attract? Can you make a penny look shiny and new or build a steel band from pots and pans.
Meet Hogarth, the Iron Man’s companion...The Iron Man wants a friend...Can you build him one?
Our second Topic of the year is ‘GODS AND MORTALS’ where we will be exploring daily life within Ancient Greece and what this entails for the poor mortals whom inhabit this mystical place. We will also be examining the Ancient Gods who were worshiped for very different reasons whilst getting to know their personalities and powers.
Our class text for this topic is 'Greek Myths' by Marcia Williams
Our first topic this half-term is Tribal Tales, which is a study of the Stone, Bronze and Iron ages. This includes an exciting trip to Creswell Craggs, coming soon, as well as making Stone Age tools, creating various artworks including 'cave paintings' to show communication and decoration an exploring how the people of these ages protected themselves and worked with their land. All of this will build up to our class museum which will open on Thursday 19th October!
Our class text for this topic is Stone Age Boy.
This half-term, our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, we will be having Ballet lessons delivered by The Royal Ballet and this will end with a showcase event which you will be invited to nearer the time.
