Welcome to Year 2's class page. Year 2 will have P.E on Tuesday and Friday but please keep kits in school.

Welcome back after our last half term holiday! This last half term, our topic is 'The Scented Garden'. Please keep checking on the website for updates on our fantastic learning this half term. We have a synagogue visit on 20th June.

A busy week in Year 2! We made natural materials to design and create art, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. We also had our annual Sports Day!

21.6.17 - We made enchanted gardens using natural resources that we found in our school field.

20.6.17 - Year 2 visited a synagogue in Nottingham. We met people from the Jewish faith and respected their views and way of life.

April 2017

Welcome back to our Summer term! We hope that you all had a relaxing break. Our new topic is Beat Band Boogie. If you would like more information then please read our half termly news letter below. 

This half term, our topic is 'Wriggle and Crawl'. We will be learning all about different minibeasts and investigating habitats during our own minibeast hunt! We have a planned visit to the Tropical Butterfly House this half term and we will also be holding a class assembly to show off all our amazing minibeast work on 27th March. Can't wait to see you there!

10.7.17 A giant snail invaded our school!! We decided to write letter of complaints to Mr Snail.

7.3.17 - we had a PE session working on our core with Gordon :)

1.3.17 - Year 2 visited The Butterfly House. We got to see lots of different minibeasts and stroke/hold - Giant snails, cockroaches and a stick insect!

21.2.17 - Year 2 Minibeast adventure. We explored our school field to find minibeasts and their habitats.

19.1.17 - SCIENCE DAY! We experimented to find out how to get Captain Jack's treasure that was frozen inside blocks of ice.

16.1.17 - We got into character with Partake Theatre! What a fantastic afternoon we had! The children explored an island with penguins, climbed a volcano and flew above a tropical jungle with the parrots. Eventually we found the treasure...well done Y2 :)

Fantastic home learning Y2... keep it up!

11.1.17 WALT: I can make observational drawings. We looked a different pirate ships and then sketched the boats, looking closely at the detail.

6th January 2017 - PIRATE ADVENTURES! We dressed as pirates, followed directions to find treasure, invaded Y4 ,listened to pirate music, made wanted posters and designed mini pirate models!

1.12.16 - We used different materials to recreate different aerial photographs of Pleasley.

This half term our topic is 'Land Ahoy'. We have lots of fun activities planned including a pirate day (6th January) and a pirate drama afternoon (16th January). Y2 will be hosting a class event week beginning 6th February - date TBC... hope to see you there :)

22.11.16 - we visited St Barnabas' Church to donate our fund raising money and find out about Pleasley in the past.

17.11.16 - ANTI--BULLYING WEEK! We discussed how to stop bullies and became superheroes to help tackle any bullying. Great job Year 2!

8th November 2016 - we baked cakes for our bake sale! Y2 raised £40 for our local church. Thank you to everybody that supported us :)

31st October 2016 - Year Two became detectives and explored Pleasley. We made a tally for all the features we saw.

This half term, our topic will be Street Detectives. We will find out all about our local area and we will also get a chance to discover all the different jobs that people do in our community. We are very excited to become detectives frown 

11.10.12 - some fantastic creative work related to our topic :)
