What are we learning this week?

English - We will be writing riddles about space.


Phonics - We will be learning the digraphs 'ue' and 'au'


Maths - We will be look at 3d and 2d shapes.

Topic - We will be visiting the church on Monday afternoon for our RE lesson and looking at materials and their properties.

English - We will be focusing on the book - Man on the Moon (A day in the life of Bob) - we will be writing a letter from the perspective of the aliens on the moon describing Bob.

 

Phonics - We will be learning the digraphs 'aw' and 'wh'


Maths - We will be focusing on teen numbers using base 10 (dienes). 

 

Topic - We will be visiting the Space Centre (29th January) and also looking at Satellite Images and Moving Pictures.

Phonics - We will be learning the split digraphs o-e and e-e and tricky word 'my'.


Maths - We will be comparing number bonds!

 

Topic - We are visiting the theatre this week! We can't wait to go and see the panto on Monday! It is school uniform. We will also be making a woodland map and solving map problems.

Museum week! Our museum is at 2.30pm on Monday in our classroom!

 

English - We will be writing instructions and reflecting on what we have learnt this topic!

Maths - We will be continuing to develop our addition skills using part, part and whole!

 

Topic - We will be hosting our museum day! We will also complete our science day investigating carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

English - We will be designing our own dinosaur and writing a character description.

 

Phonics - We will be recapping the sounds /ar/ and /or/ and the tricky word 'says'.


Maths - We will be focusing on part part whole model and addition sums.

 

Topic - We will be painting our paper mache dinosaurs. Rev. Caroline will also be joining us for a baptism!

Phonics - We will be recapping the sounds /igh/ and /oa/ and the tricky word 'said'.


Maths - We will be focusing on ordering numbers and ordinal numbers.

 

Topic - We will be continuing to paper mache our dinosaurs. We are visiting the church on Monday for our Harvest Festival! We will also be having our healthy minds day!

Maths - We will be focusing on greater than, less than and equal to.

 

Topic - We will be learning about Mary Anning and comparing modern day to prehistoric times. We will also be making a large scale dinosaur! Please bring in any boxes you have!

English - We will be reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and writing our own version with the very hungry dinosaur! We will then write a diary entry as the dinosaur.

 

Phonics - We will be learning the sounds /ai/ and /ee/ and the tricky word 'to'.

 

Maths - We will be focusing on one more and one less.

 

Topic - We will be visiting Waterstones on Tuesday to see Alex T. Smith! We are also going to learn about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores and learn about plants that were around in prehistoric times!

English - We will be learning about riddles and then writing our own riddle about a dinosaur for our Big Write!

 

Phonics - We will be learning the sounds /ng/ and /th/ and the tricky word 'do'.

 

Maths - We will be focusing on different representation of numbers and moving onto looking at 'one more than' within 10.

 

Topic - We will be drawing our own fossils using chalk, painting a dinosaur landscape and also creating a prehistoric landscape!
